Rucker Performance Super Gas

November 2006 - Veteran sportsman racer Bob Drapp's name has been synonymous with Super Gas in 2006. He has decimated the competition and needed only to win a few rounds in Virginia to lock up the championship. For his stellar performance, we at the Speed have dubbed him "Mr. Super Gas."

"I guess now you can officially say it," Drapp said of his nickname following his win in Richmond. "I needed to make it to the fourth round to lock up the championship. Not only did I get there, I got to the winner's circle yet again."

Drapp points to his years of experience and top notch equipment as the factors helping him to vault him above the rest.

"It takes a lot of practice. I have been running the same combination for two years and I have a handle on the tune-up," he noted. "The bike has been extremely reliable and part of that is using extremely good components." The No. 1 plate was especially gratifying for Drapp after he had missed out on a Super Eliminator championship by a narrow margin a few years ago.

"It's really hard to say all the things I am feeling right now. It’s been a long time coming," he said. "I have been racing since before a lot of my competitors were even born. It's a dream come true."

He thanked his team owner Tony Mione and Gulf Coast Racing.

Tom Ocasio of Howell, N.J. scored a crucial Super Gas victory amongst a tough field at Rockingham.

"We had a great weekend at The Rock. Our Brian's Harley Davidson-Buell 2006 H-D Destroyer performed great all weekend, thanks to my crew chief Jeff Jampo," Ocasio said. "From the Friday night test and tune I knew we had a good tune-up for the weekend. Qualifying was rough; I ran a 9.72, which was only good enough for 12th spot in a 48 bike field. Sunday morning we came out strong and the bike stayed consistent all day.

Ocasio beat Don Stratton Jr. in the final after Stratton fouled on the starting line.

"I have to say a special thank you to the team and bike owner Brian Bentley and Brian's Harley-Davidson/Buell of Langhorne, PA. for giving me the opportunity to represent Brian's H-D this season," Ocasio said. "I also want to thank service manager Bret Bentley and the entire staff at Brian's H-D for their support along with Billy Joe Bowman, my fellow racer and traveling partner. In addition I need to say thank you to Monmouth Associated Chiropractic of Howell, N.J. for their continuing support and a very special thank you to my wife Debra for putting up with me and my racing efforts. As always, thanks to Craig and his AHDRA staff along with the crew from Rockingham Dragway, who put on a great event."
