March 2004

by MARGARET ALLEN / Dallas Business Journal

March 2004 – North Texas is now home to its second custom motorcycle manufacturer. Bill Rucker, who co-founded American IronHorse Co. with Tim Edmondson in 1997, has resurfaced with his own shop after selling out his interest in AIH last August 2003.

Rucker Performance Ltd. is located in 16,000 square feet at 5518 East Belknap Blvd. in Haltom City. It will build one-of-a-kind, high-end custom bikes, priced at $30,000 and up. He hasn’t settled on models names yet. Rucker says his shop of 11 employees is already working on a bike for a member of the Seattle Seahawks.

While AIH produces nearly 3,000 bikes a year, Rucker, whose first bike will roll off the line in late April, plans to keep his new shop small. He’s looking at a production goal of 300 to 500 bikes a year within two to three years.
