Former NBA player, Jim Farmer, Takes Part in FLY-N-BUY program

Former NBA player, Jim Farmer, traveled to Rucker Performance through the FLY-N-BUY program to meet with world renowned, custom bike builder Bill Rucker and plan the design of his new custom chopper.

Jim's diverse career history has taken him all over the United States – as an NBA player for the Dallas Mavericks, Utah Jazz, Seattle Sonics and the Denver Nuggets and a model in Los Angeles to an NBA scout, coach, and in Tennessee to be a country music singer. Jim moved to Nashville in 2000 to pursue his music career.

Despite his busy career and lifestyle, Jim says that he always wanted a Harley until the chopper craze hit. After seeing a photo of the Rucker Performance Gauntlet in a magazine, Farmer contacted the Rucker Performance headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. "Once I saw it, I loved the way it looked," Jim said.

Jim participated in the Rucker Performance FLY-N-BUY customer care program, a program that includes a round trip ticket and one night stay in Fort Worth. Highlights of the visit are airport service to the factory, lunch with Bill Rucker, a factory tour, a test ride on the bike they are interested in, custom fitting for handlebars, controls, and seat, plus a design consultation with Director of Design, Carl Tyndell.

After arriving at the Rucker Performance headquarters, Jim took a complete tour of the shop. He met with Carl Tyndell to discuss paint schemes, accessories and color selections for his bike. Carl reviewed the different options to create a unique bike that was ideal for Jim's personality.

Next, Carl completed a sketch with the color specifications and designs that Jim selected. Jim chose a black base coat with blue realistic butane flames and a skull on the center of his gas tank. Using a test panel, Carl laid out different renditions of the fire to show Jim a selection of fire styles for his bike.

Most importantly, Jim decided that he wanted the number 21, his NBA number, sewn on the seat of his Gauntlet.

When asked about his day at Rucker Performance, Jim said "It's a first class situation− Bill Rucker is a legend."

Jim Farmer is expecting his Rucker Performance Gauntlet to be delivered this summer.
